Send your AI a recording link, get the transcript back — speakers told apart if you ask.
Transcribe a recorded audio or video file from its URL, from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or your own code. Set the spoken language, and turn on speaker separation when more than one person talks. No speech-to-text account of your own; each call is quoted before it runs and paid from one toolfare balance.
1Connect your AI app
Pick the app you use. You do this once, and every API on toolfare is then available in it.
Add toolfare as a connector in Claude
Add to Claudehttps://api.toolfare.ai/mcp
- 1Open Customize → Connectors and choose "Add custom connector".
- 2Paste this URL as the remote MCP server URL.
- 3Leave the OAuth client id and secret under Advanced settings empty.
- 4Complete the browser authorization, then return to your conversation.
Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. A Free account may hold one custom connector in total.
Claude’s own instructions2What to ask
Copy a prompt into your AI app once you’re connected. It picks the right one of the 1 tools and tells you the price first.

Use it when
- You have a recording — a meeting, interview, podcast or video — and want its text.
- You need to know who said what, with speakers told apart.
- Your agent should search, quote or summarise what was said in a file.
Look elsewhere when
- You want the clip re-spoken in another language, not a transcript. Use this instead
- You want to turn text into speech. Use this instead
- You want a YouTube video’s details or a channel’s uploads rather than what is said in it. Use this instead
Transcription directly, or through toolfare
Directly
- An account, plan and API key with a speech-to-text vendor
- Code to upload or link the file, wait for the job and parse the transcript
- A separate invoice for each audio vendor you use
Through toolfare
- Pay per file, quoted before it runs, from the same balance as everything else
- No speech-to-text key to put in an agent’s config
- Text to speech and dubbing on the same connection
toolfare does not edit, translate or summarise the transcript itself — your agent does that — and it adds nothing to the transcription quality.
Limits
- The input is a URL to an audio or video file that can be fetched; there is no upload of a local file.
- Recorded files only, not live streams.
- `max_seconds` is the expected media length and defaults to one hour; set it close to the real length, and higher for longer files.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
Questions
An audio or video recording at a URL the service can fetch. It takes a link to the file, not an upload.
Yes. Set `diarize` to true and the transcript separates the speakers.
The language code is optional. Passing it when you know the spoken language is the safe choice.
It expects a link to the media file itself. A web page that only embeds a player may not work.
Each tool’s current price is shown on this page and quoted before the call runs.
