You get Seedance clips on demand, not a video editor. There is no timeline, no stitching of clips into an ad and no library of past generations — and a clip you do not like is still charged once it finishes.
Limits
- Asynchronous: the clip is collected after the task finishes, a few minutes later, not returned by the first call.
- Clips run 4 to 15 seconds. Seedance 2.5, Fast and Mini render at 480p or 720p; 1080p needs Seedance 2.0.
- The video link expires 24 hours after the clip is ready, so download it.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
Questions
Before a clip starts, your agent gets a quote from the model, resolution and length you chose, and a cap you agree to. The clip is charged once, when your agent collects the finished video, on the video it actually used, and never more than that cap. Quotes and charges are in US dollars.
No. There is no monthly fee and no ByteDance account or API key to set up. Top-ups start at $3, and your balance doesn’t expire.
Video generation isn’t free: the free balance a new account starts with covers data calls only, and video opens with your first top-up of any amount. Every clip on this page is shown with the exact prompt that made it, so you can judge the model before you pay. The smallest top-up is $3, bigger ones add more (+5% from $75, +10% from $150, +15% from $300), and a clip that fails costs nothing.
Clips of 4 to 15 seconds from a prompt, optionally guided by reference images, video or audio. Seedance 2.5 renders at 480p or 720p; Seedance 2.0 also renders 1080p. Ratios are 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 and 21:9.
Generation takes a few minutes. Your agent collects the finished clip and gets a download link, which stays valid for 24 hours, so save the file.
Nothing is charged. Starting a clip and checking on an unfinished one are free; only a finished clip is charged.
