Data toolfare buys · quoted first

Ask your AI what the open web actually says about something.

Neural search across public pages, a single written answer with the sources it came from, and the readable text of pages you already have — answered inside ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Cursor. No Exa account or API key of your own: toolfare makes each call and tells your AI the price before it runs.

1Connect your AI app

Pick the app you use. You do this once, and every API on toolfare is then available in it.

Add toolfare as a connector in Claude

Add to Claude
https://api.toolfare.ai/mcp
  1. 1Open Customize → Connectors and choose "Add custom connector".
  2. 2Paste this URL as the remote MCP server URL.
  3. 3Leave the OAuth client id and secret under Advanced settings empty.
  4. 4Complete the browser authorization, then return to your conversation.

Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. A Free account may hold one custom connector in total.

2What to ask

Copy a prompt into your AI app once you’re connected. It picks the right one of the 3 tools and tells you the price first.

  • Search the web by meaning, not keywords

Takes a question or a description in plain language and returns the public pages that match it, optionally with their text.

    • “Find recent articles about MCP adoption in marketing teams.”
    • “What are people saying about this product on the open web?”
  • One sourced answer to a question

Searches the web for a question and returns a single written answer with the citations it was drawn from.

    • “Who founded this company, and what did they do before?”
    • “When did this competitor launch its enterprise plan?”
  • The text of pages you already have

Returns the readable text, the relevant highlights, or a summary for up to 100 URLs, without searching for them first.

    • “Get the text of these three pages.”
    • “Summarise what this page says about pricing.”

Use it when

  • You need what the public web says about a person, company, product or topic.
  • You want a conclusion with its sources attached rather than a list of links.
  • You are researching something no dedicated data provider covers.

Look elsewhere when

  • You want what Google ranks for a keyword, in order. That is a results page, not a meaning search. Use this instead
  • You need a structured person record with typed fields. That is an enrichment provider.
  • You want your own analytics, ads or store data. This reads the public web only.

Exa directly, or through toolfare

Directly

  • An Exa account and API key of your own
  • Your own code to search, fetch and summarise
  • A separate bill for web research

Through toolfare

  • Per call, quoted before it runs, on the same balance as everything else
  • No Exa account and no key to hand to an agent
  • Web research beside your own marketing data in the same question

You get search, answers and page contents on demand, not Exa’s full product — no websets, no monitors, nothing that keeps watching a topic for you.

Limits

  • It reads public pages only; anything behind a login is invisible to it.
  • An answer is only as good as the pages it found — the citations are there so you can check.
  • Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
