# X Data through toolfare

> Public X (Twitter) data — post details, keyword search sorted by top or latest, and the posts an account has published — answered inside Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor. No X developer account or API plan of your own: each call is quoted before it runs and paid from one toolfare balance.

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server,
create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in.
Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above
that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Price

From $0.003 Quoted before each call; the final charge follows the returned usage. Pay per call from one balance.

Balances and top-ups are in US dollars. Quotes and `--max-cost` count credits: 1,000 credits = $3 ($0.003 each).

## Use it when

- You want a quick read on public reaction to a launch, outage or announcement on X.
- You want to see what a person or company account has been posting lately.
- You need the details of a specific post someone linked to you.
- You want occasional X data without committing to an X API plan.

## Look elsewhere when

- You want Threads, Meta’s text-based app, rather than X.
- You want to post, reply, like or send messages. These tools only read public data.
- You need the full firehose or complete historical archive. This is per-call lookup, not a bulk data feed.

## Limits

- Public data only — nothing from protected accounts or anything that requires being signed in to X.
- Three tools: post details, keyword search and an account’s posts. There is no profile, follower or reply-thread tool.
- Search and timelines return up to the number of results you set, sorted top or latest for search.
- Each call is a snapshot at the moment it runs, with no history of past values.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
