# Web Reader through toolfare

> Give it the URL of a public web page and it returns the page’s content as Markdown or plain text, ready for a model to read. Use it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or your own code — no scraping service account of your own, quoted before each call, paid from one balance.

Page: https://toolfare.ai/web-reader

## Use it from your agent

Paste this into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any agent with a shell:

> Set up https://toolfare.ai/skill.md, then use toolfare to read https://docs.stripe.com/api/checkout/sessions as Markdown and summarise the required parameters

Apps without a terminal connect toolfare as an MCP server: https://toolfare.ai/docs#connect

## Use it from a script

```sh
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
curl -fsSL 'https://toolfare.ai/toolfare/toolfare.mjs' -o ~/.local/bin/toolfare
chmod +x ~/.local/bin/toolfare
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
export TOOLFARE_MCP_URL='https://api.toolfare.ai/mcp'
toolfare login
```

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server,
create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in.
Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above
that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Tools

### One page, as Markdown or plain text

Tool: `web_reader_read`

Read a public web page as Markdown or plain text

Required parameters: url

Optional parameters: format

Cost: From $0.021

Ask:
- Read this blog post and summarise it in five bullets.
- Turn this documentation page into Markdown I can paste into our wiki.
- Read the pricing page at this URL and list each plan’s limits.
## Price

From $0.021 Quoted before each call; the final charge follows the returned usage. Pay per call from one balance.

Balances and top-ups are in US dollars. Quotes and `--max-cost` count credits: 1,000 credits = $3 ($0.003 each).

## Use it when

- You have a URL and want the agent to work from the page’s actual text.
- You need a page in Markdown for notes, a prompt or a retrieval index.
- Your agent found pages with a search and now needs to read the best one.

## Look elsewhere when

- You need many pages of the same site, not one.
- You do not know the URL yet.
- You need to see how the page looks rather than read its text.

## Limits

- One URL per call.
- Public pages only — content behind a login or paywall cannot be read.
- Text output: Markdown (the default) or plain text. Images and layout are not returned as visuals.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
