# Web Answer through toolfare

> One call takes a question and returns an answer drawn from the public web, with the pages it cites. Use it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or your own code when you want a sourced answer rather than a list of links — no vendor account of your own, quoted before each call, paid from one balance.

## Use it from your agent

Paste this into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any agent with a shell:

> Set up https://toolfare.ai/skill.md, then use toolfare to find out which Node.js versions are currently in long-term support, and cite the pages you got it from

Apps without a terminal connect toolfare as an MCP server: https://toolfare.ai/docs#connect

## Use it from a script

```sh
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
curl -fsSL 'https://toolfare.ai/toolfare/toolfare.mjs' -o ~/.local/bin/toolfare
chmod +x ~/.local/bin/toolfare
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
export TOOLFARE_MCP_URL='https://api.toolfare.ai/mcp'
toolfare login
```

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server,
create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in.
Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above
that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Tools

### An answer, with the pages behind it

Tool: `web_answer_answer`

Answer a question from the public web with cited pages

Required parameters: query

Cost: From $0.021

Ask:
- What changed in the latest Next.js release? Cite your sources.
- Is the EU AI Act already in force for general-purpose models? Show me where that comes from.
- Which countries does Stripe Tax support? Give me the source pages.
## Price

From $0.021 Quoted before each call; the final charge follows the returned usage. Pay per call from one balance.

Balances and top-ups are in US dollars. Quotes and `--max-cost` count credits: 1,000 credits = $3 ($0.003 each).

## Use it when

- You want a short, current answer and the pages that support it, in one call.
- Your app or agent shows users answers and needs to show where they came from.
- You want to check a claim against the live web before repeating it.

## Look elsewhere when

- You want to pick the sources yourself from a ranked list of pages.
- You need the full text of a specific page, not an answer about it.
- You need every page of a documentation site for your own index.

## Limits

- One question per call. The only input is the question — there is no option to restrict sources or domains.
- The answer is generated from the pages found; read the cited pages before relying on it.
- Public web only — nothing behind a login or paywall.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
