# TikTok Data through toolfare

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server,
create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in.
Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above
that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Use it when

- You are researching a trend and want the hashtags around it and the videos under them.
- You are vetting a TikTok creator and want to see what they’ve been posting.
- You want to see how a product or brand shows up in TikTok search.
- You want region-specific videos under a hashtag in the US, UK, France, Japan, Vietnam or Singapore.

## Look elsewhere when

- You want Douyin, TikTok’s Chinese counterpart, which has separate content.
- You need comments or a creator’s profile stats. There is no comments or profile tool for TikTok here.
- You need private data — messages, analytics of an account you don’t control, or anything behind a login. Only public data is available.

## Limits

- Public data only — nothing that requires being signed in to TikTok.
- Videos by hashtag id are limited to six regions: US, GB, FR, JP, VN and SG.
- There is no comments tool and no profile tool; creators are reached through their published videos.
- Each call is a snapshot at the moment it runs, with no history of past values.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
