What it takes to get the same answer from Similarweb
Similarweb sells its API, and the AI connector built on it, through its sales team. These are the public figures.
Buying the Similarweb API
- Not on the pricing page: API access comes in a custom package from sales. similarweb.com
- $10,000 a year, paid up front, for the smallest package listed publicly: 50,000 API credits a month on a 12-month contract. AWS Marketplace
- $37,800 a year is the median contract across 157 purchases. Vendr
- Unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. Similarweb docs
- Similarweb’s own MCP server needs an API-only, Business or Enterprise plan. Similarweb docs
Through toolfare
- Most calls cost $0.23 to $1.60. Your agent sees the price before each one runs.
- Top up from $3. Your balance doesn’t expire.
- No contract, no sales call, no Similarweb account.
- A call that fails costs nothing.
Public figures checked on 19 October 2026.
Use it when
- You want to size a competitor — how much traffic they actually get, and whether it is growing or shrinking.
- You want to know whether a competitor’s growth is bought or earned, and roughly what that costs them.
- You want an acquisition mix: the fastest read on whether an incumbent is an SEO shop, a paid shop or a household name people go to directly.
- You are qualifying a partner, acquisition target or advertiser and need an independent read on their scale.
- You want engagement quality, not just volume — a high bounce rate on rising visits usually means paid traffic.
Look elsewhere when
- You want your OWN traffic. Google Analytics has it exactly, and reading your own account costs nothing; Similarweb only models it. Use this instead
- You need a per-country breakdown. This gateway reports worldwide figures only — per-market drill-down is not available at any price.
- You need last week’s numbers. Data lags about a month, and most endpoints reach back only about three closed months (the visits trend reaches about six).
- You need keyword-level or campaign-level spend. PPC spend is one modelled total per month, not a breakdown.
- You need exact figures for billing or a contract. Every number here is an estimate, and Similarweb says so.
One account, many research tools
One connection gives your AI the sources a marketing answer actually needs.
A useful marketing question rarely lives in one tool. Ask in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor and toolfare can combine traffic, search, ads, app-store, social and creative context in the same conversation, instead of asking you to connect each source one by one.
- 1
Size the market and the competitor
Ask how much traffic a competitor gets, where it comes from, how much paid search contributes, and which adjacent sites belong in the same competitive set.
- 2
Explain why they are getting found
Move from traffic volume into the search layer: keywords, backlinks, SERP players, trends and AI visibility, so the agent can explain what is driving the visits.
- 3
Read app-store demand when the market is mobile
Bring app keywords, ranking signals and review context into the same research flow instead of treating mobile discovery as a separate analysis.
- 4
See what competitors are actually running
Check live and historical ad creative across search, display, video and social libraries before deciding what angle, format or campaign to test next.
Similarweb directly, or through toolfare
Directly
- Not on the pricing page: API access comes in a custom package from sales. similarweb.com
- $10,000 a year, paid up front, for the smallest package listed publicly: 50,000 API credits a month on a 12-month contract. AWS Marketplace
- $37,800 a year is the median contract across 157 purchases. Vendr
- Unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. Similarweb docs
- Similarweb’s own MCP server needs an API-only, Business or Enterprise plan. Similarweb docs
Through toolfare
- Per call, quoted before it runs, on the same balance as everything else
- No vendor account of your own and no key to hand to an agent
- Reachable from any MCP client, in the chat you are already in
You get the endpoints that work through this gateway, reported worldwide only, with no per-market drill-down and a history measured in a handful of recent months. If you need country-level reporting, older history or the complete Similarweb API surface, buy it directly — toolfare will not get you there.
Limits
- Reports are worldwide only — any country code, US included, is rejected outright, so there is no per-market drill-down. (You can still ask which countries a site’s traffic comes from; you cannot ask for a report on one of them.)
- Most endpoints cover roughly the last three closed months, with data lagging about a month. The ready-made visits trend is the exception — it defaults to about six.
- Every endpoint here was called against the live gateway and returned data. Any gateway endpoint that fails with every documented parameter supplied is deliberately withheld — a tool that cannot be called is worse than no tool.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
Questions
Yes. toolfare calls Similarweb’s data through a licensed Similarweb API reseller and passes the response to your agent with its source and date. toolfare is not affiliated with Similarweb.
No. toolfare holds the vendor account. Your agent signs in to toolfare once and calls through it.
Before a call runs, your agent gets a quote and a cap. The call is charged what the gateway settled for it, never more than the cap you accepted. Quotes and charges are in US dollars.
