Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server, create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in. Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Price

Quoted to your AI before the capture runs, then charged once per successful render. One charge per image returned, at the rate the provider’s billing module holds for ScreenshotOne. No fixed price table on the page, on purpose: a reprice is one change in the billing module. A render that fails is never charged.

Balances and top-ups are in US dollars. Quotes and `--max-cost` count credits: 1,000 credits = $3 ($0.003 each).

## Use it when

- You need a picture of how a page looks right now.
- You want a competitor’s landing page or a creative reference as an image.
- You need visual proof of a page’s current state.

## Look elsewhere when

- You want the page’s text rather than its appearance. A reader is cheaper and returns something your AI can search.
- You want the page’s performance score.

## Limits

- Public pages only; a page behind a login is captured as its login screen.
- An image is a picture, not data — your AI can describe it, but cannot search its text the way it can a read page.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
