# LinkedIn Data through toolfare

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server,
create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in.
Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above
that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Use it when

- You are researching an account or prospect before outreach or a call.
- You want to map who works at a company, by role.
- You want to see what a competitor or a person publishes on LinkedIn, and who engages with it.
- You are enriching a CRM list that already holds LinkedIn URLs.

## Look elsewhere when

- You only have a work email or a visitor’s IP address, not a LinkedIn URL.
- You want the ads a company runs on LinkedIn rather than its organic posts.
- You want to send messages or connection requests, or read anything behind a login. These tools only read public data.

## Limits

- Publicly available data only; nothing that needs a LinkedIn login.
- Most tools take a LinkedIn URL, not a name — find the profile or company page first.
- Post comments take the post’s numeric activity id.
- Employee lists come back up to the requested limit (ten by default), as basic or full records.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
