# Image Editing through toolfare

> Six fixed image operations — background removal, object removal, outpainting, upscaling, product shots in a described scene and virtual try-on — run on an image you give by URL, from Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor or your own script. No editing-service account or key of your own: toolfare quotes each call before it runs, charges one balance, and returns the edited image in the same call.

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server,
create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in.
Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above
that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Price

From $0.03 Quoted before each call; the final charge follows the returned usage. Pay per call from one balance.

Balances and top-ups are in US dollars. Quotes and `--max-cost` count credits: 1,000 credits = $3 ($0.003 each).

## Use it when

- You need clean cut-outs of product photos for a store or an ad.
- A good image has something in it you want gone, or is too small or too tightly cropped.
- You want a product shot in a new scene without a photo shoot.
- You want to see a garment on a person before producing a full campaign.

## Look elsewhere when

- You want a free-form change described in words — a new colour, a different outfit, several images combined.
- You need a new image from scratch rather than a fix to an existing one.
- The footage is video, not a still.

## Limits

- One input image per call, except virtual try-on, which takes exactly two: the person first, then the garment.
- Object removal, outpainting and product shots need a text description of up to 2,000 characters; the other operations take none.
- Images are passed as URLs or data URLs; one output image per call.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
