# Google Analytics 4 through toolfare

> Users, sessions, key events and revenue for any period, traffic sources down to the campaign, the pages people actually view, event funnels, and any custom GA4 report — answered inside ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Cursor. Connect your GA4 property to toolfare once; your AI reads it with your own login, and every read is free.

## Use it from your agent

Paste this into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any agent with a shell:

> Set up https://toolfare.ai/skill.md, then use toolfare to answer: How many users and conversions did we get last month?

Apps without a terminal connect toolfare as an MCP server: https://toolfare.ai/docs#connect

## Use it from a script

```sh
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
curl -fsSL 'https://toolfare.ai/toolfare/toolfare.mjs' -o ~/.local/bin/toolfare
chmod +x ~/.local/bin/toolfare
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
export TOOLFARE_MCP_URL='https://api.toolfare.ai/mcp'
toolfare login
```

Then connect your Google Analytics 4 account in the toolfare console (https://toolfare.ai/ga4#setup); calls fail until it is connected.

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server, create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in. Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Tools

### The headline numbers for any period

Tool: `ga4_get_property_overview`

Total, new and active users, sessions, page views, key events and revenue for a property over a date range — the snapshot answer, in one call.

Ask:
- How many users and conversions did we get last month?
- Compare this week’s sessions and revenue with last week’s.

### Where the traffic came from, down to the campaign

Tool: `ga4_list_traffic_sources`

Users, sessions, page views and revenue by source, medium and campaign name — organic against paid, channel against channel.

Ask:
- Which campaigns drove the most sessions last week?
- How much of our revenue came from organic search this month?

### Key events, and the sources that drove them

Tool: `ga4_get_conversion_overview`

Total key events and revenue for a period, together with the traffic sources that converted best.

Ask:
- How many conversions did we get last month, and from where?
- Which source drives the most key events?

### The pages people actually view

Tool: `ga4_top_pages`

Pages ranked by views over a date range, by page path — what gets read, as opposed to where sessions start.

Ask:
- What were our most-viewed pages last week?
- Which blog posts got the most views this month?

### Event counts for a funnel, with unique users

Tool: `ga4_list_events`

Any GA4 event — not only conversions — with its count, value and deduplicated users, which is what a step-by-step funnel is built from.

Ask:
- How many people added to cart versus purchased last week?
- Show me the funnel from session start to sign-up.

### Any report GA4 can run, live

Tool: `ga4_run_report`

A live Data API report with the dimensions, metrics, filters and date ranges you name, including your property’s custom definitions.

Ask:
- Break down conversions by device and country for last month.
- Show revenue by landing page and session source for the last 30 days.

### Also available

- `ga4_daily_trend`: Traffic day by day for a date range
- `ga4_get_configuration`: Streams, key events and Google Ads links
- `ga4_get_metadata`: Every dimension and metric a property can report on
- `ga4_list_properties`: The GA4 properties your toolfare account can read
- `ga4_verify_realtime_event`: Whether an event fired in the last 30 minutes

## Price

Free to read: it is your own account, so toolfare pays nobody for the data and charges nothing per read. No per-read charge to observe. Reads need no purchase. Like every toolfare call, they run only while your balance holds at least $0.003, and that is not spent.

Balances and top-ups are in US dollars. Quotes and `--max-cost` count credits: 1,000 credits = $3 ($0.003 each).

## Use it when

- You want your own traffic, conversions or revenue for a period, without opening GA4.
- You want to know which source, medium or campaign drove the result.
- You are building a funnel from events and need unique users per step.
- The standard reports do not cover the breakdown you need.

## Look elsewhere when

- You want ad spend, CPA or ROAS. GA4 does not know what you paid — that is your ad account.
- You want the search queries that brought people in. That is Search Console, not GA4.
- You want a competitor’s traffic. GA4 only measures sites you own.
- You want to change a key event or a link. The MCP connection publishes no write to your property.

## Limits

- The ready-made summaries read toolfare’s synced copy of the property; the custom report reads GA4 live instead, and is subject to its quotas.
- Top pages are ranked by page path views, not by the page a session started on.
- The realtime event check reads the last 30 minutes only, and seeing an event there does not prove a specific test submission or ad attribution.
- Only properties you connected are readable.
