# ElevenLabs through toolfare

> Studio-quality voiceovers from a script in the voice you choose, and videos dubbed into another language — answered inside ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Cursor. No ElevenLabs plan or key of your own: toolfare generates each clip, tells your AI the price before it runs, and charges a voiceover by the characters spoken.

## Use it from your agent

Paste this into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any agent with a shell:

> Set up https://toolfare.ai/skill.md, then use toolfare to answer: Read this ad script aloud in a warm female voice.

Apps without a terminal connect toolfare as an MCP server: https://toolfare.ai/docs#connect

## Use it from a script

```sh
mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
curl -fsSL 'https://toolfare.ai/toolfare/toolfare.mjs' -o ~/.local/bin/toolfare
chmod +x ~/.local/bin/toolfare
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
export TOOLFARE_MCP_URL='https://api.toolfare.ai/mcp'
toolfare login
```

Sign in once per machine; the CLI renews the sign-in itself. On a CI runner or another server, create an API key in the toolfare console and set it as `TOOLFARE_API_KEY` instead of signing in. Paid calls on one sign-in or key run one at a time. `--max-cost` refuses a call quoted above that many credits (1,000 credits = $3).

## Tools

### A voiceover from a script

Tool: `elevenlabs_text_to_speech`

Reads text aloud in a chosen voice and returns an MP3, in the languages the multilingual model supports.

Ask:
- Read this ad script aloud in a warm female voice.
- Generate a voiceover for this 30-second video.

### A video dubbed into another language

Tool: `elevenlabs_dub`

Translates and re-voices a video’s audio into a target language.

Ask:
- Dub this video ad into Japanese.
- Make a Spanish version of this product demo.

### The voices to choose from

Tool: `elevenlabs_list_voices`

The account’s available voices, with their ids, names and previews.

Ask:
- What voices can I use?
- Which voice sounds closest to a calm narrator?

### Also available

- `elevenlabs_get_dub`: Check a dubbing job
- `elevenlabs_get_dubbed_audio`: Download a finished dub

## Price

Quoted to your AI before the clip is generated, then charged by the characters ElevenLabs reports it synthesised — when it reports them at all. Metered from the character count ElevenLabs returns with the audio, at its multilingual-model rate as the conservative bound — so a long script costs more than a short one. A call that returns no character count, which is every call but a voiceover, settles at a flat per-request rate instead. No fixed price table on the page, on purpose: the rate lives in the provider’s billing module. A generation that fails is never charged.

Balances and top-ups are in US dollars. Quotes and `--max-cost` count credits: 1,000 credits = $3 ($0.003 each).

## Use it when

- You need a voiceover for a video or ad.
- You want an audio version of written copy.
- You are localising a video into another market.

## Look elsewhere when

- You want to transcribe existing audio — the opposite direction.
- You only need translated text. Dubbing re-voices the audio and costs accordingly.

## Limits

- Voices are the ones available to toolfare’s account; there is no voice cloning through the connection.
- Dubbing and voice listings return a job or JSON rather than audio, so they carry no character count and settle at the flat per-request rate.
- Pay as you go from your toolfare balance, in US dollars; there is no subscription. A call runs when your balance covers its quote.
